Microsoft to host a media event on October 6th in New York to launch the Surface Pro 4 and the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL

Microsoft starts sending out media invites for the company’s special event in New York this coming October 6. The Redmond giant will be launching a handful of new Windows 10 devices as it is said on the invite and is also expected to launch the much awaited Windows 10 Mobile operating system for the Windows Phone community.

Though there were no specific about what devices are being launch in the event but based on earlier leaks, Windows 10 Mobile devices would certainly be the two high-end duos the Lumia 950 and the larger Lumia 950 XL. Both have long been in the rumor mill packing a significant hardware upgrade and boosts a future-proof mobile operating system Windows 10. Both devices sports a QHD display with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of on-board storage with microSD card support. Cameras on both devices will be a 20 Megapixel on the back while a 5 Megapixel shooter takes care the front. Then there’s the USB Type-C port for data and charging but we’ll confirm about that on the event. Powering both devices will be a Qualcomm chipset with s Snapdragon 808 on the Lumia 950 while a beefier Snapdragon 810 for the Lumia 950 XL.

Aside from the expected Lumia devices to début next month, rumors also suggest that Microsoft will be unveiling the next Microsoft band and the Surface Pro 4 with a larger 14-inch touchscreen display. We don’t have enough specifics about the hardware changes on the Surface Pro 4 but expect a considerable minor upgrades aside from the larger screen. Rumors also speculates that the Surface Pro 4 will be lighter than its predecessor and might come with a fingerprint sensor this time.
