After having a seemingly controversial exclusivity agreement with Cyanogen, Micromax finally launched its YU brand in India which is powered by Cyanogen OS together with high-end spec’d components. It was one of the top reasons why OnePlus can no longer sell their devices in India since their devices are currently pre-installed with Cyanogen OS along with the prominent markings which will violate the arrangements between Micromax and Cyanogen at this point.

Micromax YU or YUREKA as it implies comes with a 5.5-inch 720p IPS display and is powered by a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor, 2 GB DDR3 RAM and 16 GB of internal storage space with a micro-SD slot for memory expansion. There’s also a 13-Megapixel main camera on the back and a 5-Megapixel camera on the front which should favor selfie lovers. The handset is equipped with 2500 mAh battery and of course it’s being driven by Cyanogen OS version 11 based on Android 4.4 (Kitkat).

The handset supports Dual-SIM capabilities and is compatible with 4G LTE networks along with other connectivity features in its class.

The new Micromax YUREKA pre-orders is now available exclusively on Amazon India for Rs.8,999.00 ($147). The handset is expected to go on sale in the country on the second week of January.
