Meizu MX4 announced. High-end Specs at a low price

As one of the first to pioneer the boom of quality smartphones in China, Meizu finally revealed its latest flagship device the new MX4 with features that nearly every Android user wishes to have. From the full metal chassis to the high-resolution display, Meizu is finally back in the game. Though concept may still have revolve around the iPhone notion, the Meizu MX4 is something that’s perfected from ground up.

Currently launched in China, the Meizu MX4 is currently available only in China. To make an impression, the new Meizu MX4 features a 6061 T6 Aircraft grade aluminum body with a 5.36-inch display upfront. The large display on MX4 features Full-HD output covered with a protective layer of Gorilla Glass 3. To strengthen the MX4’s display, Meizu has added shock buffers between the Gorilla Glass 3 sheet and the frame surrounding the display for added protection.

Different from the previous generation MX devices, Meizu goes for the MediaTek SoC solution for the new flagship handset with the latest MT6595 Octa-core processor comprising a 4-core Cortex-A17’s running at 2.2GHz and 4-core Cortex A7 running at 1.7GHz. It’s loaded with a PowerVR G6200 graphics and 2 GB of RAM that completes the core specs. Though Meizu opted not to include a microSD expansion slot, users are instead given a choice of available built-in storage options with 16GB, 32GB or 64GB of storage. The new handset is powered by a hefty 3,100 mAh battery which last a day and a little more.


One of the highlights of the latest flagship is its camera, the MX4 comes with a Sony IMX 220 Exmor RS with BSI sensor at 20.7 Megapixels, it features a f2/2 aperture, a dual-tone LED flash. The main camera can capture 4K video recordings as well as slow-motion videos under 720p resolution in addition to the standard camera features included.  In addition to the main camera Meizu adds a 2.1 Megapixel camera on the front for the usual video calls and definitely self-portrait shots as well.

Together with the new MX4, Meizu also announced its latest Flyme 4.0 based on the latest Android 4.4.4 (KitKat). Flyme 4.0 comes right out of the box with MX4 and brings new features and clean interface changes to the existing Flyme UI, Together with the changes in UI elements, Flyme 4.0 also comes with its own digital assistant which our source have yet to confirm if it supports English or only Chinese, a built-in shopping apps, improved security features and even  a 40 GB free of cloud storage will be available to users. In addition to that, Flyme 4.0 will also be available to MX3 and MX2.

For connectivity, the MX4 supports 3G, HSPA+ and LTE wireless connection which can easily connect to either FDD-LTE or TD-LTE network with ease. It also supports Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0. GPS with A-GPS support plus GLONASS.

The new MX4 is currently up for pre-order in China, and is available in Black, White, Gray and Gold color options. MX4 prices starts at 1799 Yuan ($293) for 16GB, 1999 Yuan ($325) for the 32GB and 2399 Yuan ($390) for the 64 GB variant and is expected to shipped in China around the 20th of September.
