Ever since the Nokia Lumia Icon introduction, Users from other parts of the world have been wondering if Nokia would release a variant of its Lumia Icon outside the railings of Verizon. Now that question have been answered as Nokia announced the Lumia 930 during Microsoft Build 2014. The Lumia 930 is basically the Lumia Icon and features a 5-inch display and a 20 Megapixel camera and of course with Carl Zeiss optics with PureView technology.
The Lumia 930 will be running Windows Phone 8.1 out of the box which means the devices will feature Microsoft’s latest addition to the new operating system such as the highly anticipated Action Center, Cortana, a SensorCore feature that connects with Bing Health and fitness app plus other new enhancements that Microsoft has added to the feature list. As mentioned before the Lumia 930 is the Lumia Icon for the rest of the world that they features the same spec without the carrier exclusivity of the Lumia Icon. The Lumia 930 comes with a 5-inch full HD OLED Clearblack display, a 2.2 GHz Quad Core Qualcomm 800 processor coupled with 2GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage. Unfortunately the Lumia 930 does not feature any memory expansion, but Nokia opted for Cloud storage instead with free 7GB more online storage via OneDrive Cloud Storage.
Being a high spec’d device, the Lumia 930 features dozens of goodies on the inside, it features a 4 directional Microphones with built-in surround sound, Built-in wireless charging with Qi Standards, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.0 with A2DP, USB 2.0, NFC, GPS with GLONASS and other basic sensors incorporated around the device. For wireless network connectivity the Lumia 930 features GSM, 3G, 3.5G and LTE connectivity.
One of the biggest assets on a PureView device is its main camera and Nokia has managed to put a 20 Megapixel camera on the back with all the PureView goodness with optical image stabilization. Not only its camera specs were the highlights of this device but also with its built-in 4 microphones that enables the Lumia 930 to capture a more immersive videos with sound than ever before. With the Lumia 930, Nokia is also giving away a full blown Creative Studio app that will let users use image-filters ala Instagram style. There is also a feature called “Living Images” that can be created via Nokia’s Storyteller app. Photos and Videos are now arranged according to the date, time and location. User will also be able to view images for a more lively experience with its ability to add background music when viewing the images.
Microsoft says the Lumia 930 will be launching in June across Europe with a $599 pricetag and will be available soon after in Asia and other parts of the World. No mention on its availability in the US as it might simply because the Nokia Lumia Icon already exist in the US and does not make sense releasing two same spec’d devices on the same market.
