To reduce its stockpile of vehicle plates, the Land Transportation Office in Region 7 (LTO 7) has resumed releasing of vehicle plates to vehicle owners.
The agency resumed the distribution of plates since October 22, 2020 at SM Seaside in Cebu as more than 19,000 vehicle plates were ready to be released.
Before anyone can claim their plates though, LTO 7 advised vehicle owners to book and appointment first through SMS by texting the following information:
- Motor vehicle file number
- Plate number
- Date of first registration
- name of the owner
and send it to 0947-349-9965 and wait for a confirmation message which will include the scheduled date and time, this line is open from Monday to Friday, 8:00AM to 5:00PM.
Special plates from the year 2015, 2016 (January-June), and 2017 (January-April) are now available including regular vehicle plates from 2015 and 2016. However plate series within GEB 2999 to GEB 9895 and GEC 1220 to GEC 2000 are still now available according to the agency.
After booking an appointment, owners are reminded to prepare necessary documents for the releasing of plates including:
- A photocopy of their OR/CR
- A photocopy of a valid Government-issued ID
- And in case of a representative, a notarized letter of authorization is needed including a photocopy of ID’s from the owner of the vehicle and the representative.
- For company vehicles, a notarized Special Power of Attorney, a Secretary Certificate with one photocopy of a valid Government-issued ID of the Secretary and the authorized person is required.
For missed appointments, owners will have to reschedule an appointment to claim their vehicle plates.
