After some mixed reports and recent leaked live images before the handset went official, LG finally made the new LG Class official. The handset was unveiled and launched in its home country South Korea and is believed to stay that way without getting out to other markets.
The new LG Class is a mid-range handset but dressed in a metallic shell. It features a 5-inch IPS display laminated in a 2.5D glass and comes with the company’s signature physical buttons on the back just below the main camera module. Powering the device is a 64-bit 1.2 GHz Cortex-A53 Quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor paired with 2 GB of RAM and a standard 16 GB of expandable storage. It supports 4G/LTE in addition to 3G/HSPA+ and GSM wireless connections plus a standard connectivity suite which includes : Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS with A-GPS and there’s NFC that is useful for mobile payments.
Being in the mid-range class doesn’t really mean that you’ll only get the basics, while staying as it is, the new handset still packs a considerable power-punch in terms of imaging capabilities. Silently sitting on the back is the handset’s 13 Megapixel main camera with a single-LED flash. While having a behemoth sensor on the back, the front also has some of its own as it comes with a high-resolution 8 Megapixel Selfie camera that serves more that what you primarily wanted it to be.
Keeping the pace forward is the built-in 2050 mAh battery and is driven by Android 5.1 Lollipop in a nice and premium finish at 147 grams. The handset is available for KRW 399,300 or roughly $338. While this would also appeal customers from other markets, it’s still unclear if LG would make the handset available outside of South Korea.
