Lenovo has the world’s first Foldable PC

What’s good a foldable screen on a PC, That’s what Lenovo is trying to gain traction with as it unveiled what would be the world’s first Foldable PC. Foldable display have been in the concept stage for years and this year, it saw its first implementation on consumer devices in smartphones and now on PC. To be honest, they look a lot cooler and more practical for computing.

The Lenovo Foldable PC will make its way to the company’s premium ThinkPad X1 line and it doesn’t have an official name yet. The company continues to work endlessly to perfect the hinge on the device and is refining its design and mechanism at the moment.

Surprisingly though, Lenovo didn’t call it a tablet as the concept device has a 13.3-inch foldable display and uses an LG foldable OLED screen to work. When opened all through, the device looks much like a tablet but folding it (for example) at about a 120-degree, you’ll have a laptop, that is complete with an on-screen keyboard at the bottom and screen on top.

Besides, being a PC, the device could also work and suited as an ebook reader. An ebook reader can actually split the screen into two columns as if you are reading on the actual physical pages of a book.

But what PC’s are designed to do are usually computing and productivity. We’ll we can’t really say about the usability of the device in real office scenario at the moment but having to move around using the on screen keyboard just feels like something’s missing. Thankfully though, the Lenovo foldable PC supports wireless peripherals, so we could make with wireless keyboard and mouse for that matter. And if you’re asking about PC gaming. this isn’t actually for you.

What’s intriguing about it are the specs, Lenovo have not unveiled the official specs of the device. Perhaps because this one is completely a prototype device as of the moment but it’s planned 2020 release is fast approaching and we are hoping to see the final consumer product to look exactly as this one if not better.
