Stores are now slashing the prices of the Huawei Ascend Mate 7 from nearly $670 to less than $535 since it first début a year ago. Despite its seemingly higher price, the Ascend Mate 7 remains one of the best spec’d handset in the market. But its reign will soon going to be over as its predecessor is definitely coming with reports are now coming out which point to either a possible November or December release but most probably before the year ends.

Previous leaks are a mixed of both worlds are they would mean and talk more likely about the Mate S and then the unreleased Mate 8, but as the Mate S is finally out officially, we are now turning our heads to the one remaining subject in the scene and that’s the Ascend Mate 8 and our sources are making sure that we are talking purely about the upcoming Mate 8 with details about the specs.

The image leaked above is said to be the Huawei Ascend Mate 8 with almost the same design features as the Mate 7 but with a slightly updated design cues especially on the back where the fingerpint and the main camera modules sitting on the same prominent molding.

The Huawei Ascend Mate 8 will feature top notch specs with a large 6.0-inch 1440p display and will include its homegrown HiSilicon Kirin 950 Octa-core chipset. Following the big.LITTLE architecture, it combines 4-cores Cortex-A72 clocked at 2.4 GHz and another 4-cores Cortex-A53 at 2.0 GHz in a 16nm finFET production process with performance comparative to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810 or Samsung’s Exynos 7420. It will also include an ARM Mali-T880 graphics processor, an i7 coprocessor and a Tensilica Hi-Fi 4 independent audio chip for an impressive audio and video performance.

The Ascend Mate 8 will be available in two configurations with one having a 3 GB RAM and 32 GB storage combo while a more powerful variant which will include 4 GB of RAM and a more hefty storage space at 64 GB.

As expected, the two available configurations are priced differently with the 3 GB RAM variant costing around CNY 3,299 ($520) while the more powerful 4 GB RAM equipped handset will set you back at CNY 3,899 ($610) which is quite impressive compared to other high-end manufacturer which closes to $800 with more or less the same spec’s as the Ascend Mate 8.
