Typically, when new software arrives, it comes with a number of new features and an improved user experience. However, the latest Samsung One UI 8 software, based on Android 16, hides a little secret. While it appears to have all the bells and whistles users expect, a closer look reveals a different story. This applies not only to the stable version found on Samsung’s newly launched foldable devices but also to the latest beta release.

Upon closer inspection, it was discovered that Samsung has restricted users from unlocking the bootloader, a move that has disappointed many power users.

A member of the XDA Developers forum dug deeper and found that Samsung had entirely removed the code responsible for bootloader unlocking. In other words, the functionality is no longer present, and there seems to be no workaround to bypass it.

This development could potentially alienate power users and raise concerns, particularly in the European Union where such restrictions may attract regulatory scrutiny.
