The new iPhone 6s and the iPhone 6s Plus is here and as the CEO puts it “The only things that’s change is everything” but would the new iPhone live on that notion? we’ll try to find out next.
The iPhone 6s series comes in two sizes with the regular iPhone 6s having a 4.7-inch display while its bigger sibling the iPhone 6s Plus comes with a larger 5.5-inch display. Like all other iPhone models in the past with a designated “s” in their names comes with a surprisingly new additions that is a significant upgrade from its predecessor. We’ll no longer mention the basics about the iPhone 6s but what we’re going to discuss next are the features that highlights the new handset.
3D Touch on Retina Display
The release of the iPhone 6s, Apple has developed touchscreen technology into something even more phenomenal than multitouch with the new 3D Touch, a variant of Force Touch technology which is able to differentiate between taps, presses and long presses and takes out a specific command depending on how users apply touch and presses on the screen. The new display feature allows Apple to include added touch gestures such as shortcuts and other extended functions, this will also enable developers to enable their apps to take full advantage of the 3D touch technology by applying extended touch related actions and functions within the app. In addition to the new 3D touch feature, the iPhone 6s and the iPhone 6s Plus also comes with a Taptic feedback engine which vibrates as users takes action on the screen giving a sense of tactile feedback much like when using a physical keyboard or buttons.
Design
Apple devices has always been known for quality and design and bring the iPhone 6s out to the world only means that every standards and strict quality compliance are implemented with every material and craftsmanship involved in the process. Taking the highest quality materials available, the new iPhones are crafted using a 7000 Series Aluminum and is known to be the strongest material ever used in building the iPhone. This will make sure toughness and ruggedness of the handset inside and out.
With premium body comes a premium face, the handset is equipped with the strongest glass in a smartphone done in ion-exchange process and is one of the toughest glass on a smartphone. Keeping up the trend, the sleek unibody design of the iPhone 6s is always made sure that its comfortable to the touch of the hand and with a variant of colors to choose from with Space Gray, Gold, Silver and now with the new Rose Gold.
New A9 Chipset
Making its way to consumer products, Apple’s new A9 chip makes its début with the iPhone 6s. The new chipset is said to be 70% faster processor and 90% faster graphics processor which Apple claims to be a console-class GPU on mobile device. With the chipset having a significant improvement in processing power, Apple also updated their M9 motion co-processor which now provides more functions, it connects directly to the handset’s sensors and GPS tracking capabilities so it can provide a better fitness tracking functionality that can even count the number of steps that the user is making. The system also improves Siri’s ability to provide services which allow the handset to enable Siri to be always on and ready to listen on every voice command.
New 12 Megapixel Camera
Every since the iPhone 4s, the iPhone has always been equipped with a 8 Megapixel sensor, though it provides quality images it’s lagging behind other smartphones in the market, however with the release of the iPhone 6s, Apple has upgraded its imaging hardware with the new 12 Megapixel main camera sensor. The new 12 Megapixel sensor uses an advance pixel technology which has been reengineered to prevent crosstalk between the subpixels. This new feature will allow more pixels to be incorporated on its sensor providing more crisper images. Additionally, the iPhone 6s Plus also features an Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) feature for a better and less blurry photos and videos.
Apple also updated the front camera on the iPhone 6s as well with a new 5 Megapixel FaceTime HD and is assisted by a Retina Flash with True-Tone technology which basically is the display on the iPhone 6s which acts as the natural source of light for the front-facing camera. The handset is equipped with a special display chip which allows the screen to be 3 times brighter than a regular display.
Advanced TouchID
Apple TouchID proves to be useful and convenient that’s why with the introduction of the iPhone 6s, Apple adds new improvements into the sensor as well as the software that drives it to make transactions more convenient and even more secure. The new sensor is also fast in detection fingerprint scanning compared to the previous generation.
Faster LTE and W-Fi with Clearer Voice Quality
The new handsets are provided with faster LTE-Advanced radios with up to 23 LTE bands support plus a faster Wi-Fi to ensure that communication isn’t compromise. With better connectivity, you’ll get better voice reception, with support for Voice over LTE -Wideband and Wi-Fi calling .
iOS 9
iOS 9 with its winning formula is designed to take full advantage of the handset’s hardware. The new iOS 9 brings elegant and intuitive interface which only found on iOS devices. The familiar interface just got a lot better with iOS 9 with new shortcuts and tricks that makes it even more convenient. Out of the box, the new iPhones are packed with built-in software that ranges from system tools, managements features, and productivity bundles that are ready to use as soon as the handset powers-up.
Availability
The iPhone 6s and the iPhone 6s Plus will have the same price as the iPhone 6 when it launched last year starting with the 16 GB variant at $99 for the regular iPhone 6s and $199 for the iPhone 6s Plus on a 24-month contract. Pre-orders starts on September 12 while the handset will launch this coming September 25 and will be available in the US, UK, Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong and in Japan.
