The Samsung Galaxy S5 had already received the much awaited Marshmallow update a few weeks back but those updates released earlier were for the localized version of the handset where mostly carrier branded handset of a certain region is entitled for the update. Today, the international variant of the handset that is widely available in the market having a model number SM-G900F is now starting to get the Marshmallow update as well.
The update will bring Android 6.0.1 (Marshmallow) to the international version of the Galaxy S5 and as expected, the update will be rolled out in batches and is now hitting Sri Lanka with other regions to expect from getting the update soon.
As the update moves region by region, and if you are not lucky, expect them to become available in a few days or in a week time depending on your location. Your device should notify you once you have the OTA update ready. If you’re eager to get your device updated as soon as they become available, you could always have your device check for updates manually by going trough the Settings menu.
Asa good practice, before hitting the update button, it is always better to backup your data just to make sure if something unexpected happens, you could always have your important files back in no time.
