Huawei’s got another device and it’s a familiar one, Last week, the company announced the new Maimang 6 in China, that same device might have silently launched outside its home country as the Nova 2i, as seen in the renders with pinpoint similarities, though we told you back then that this could be the Mate 10 Lite internationally, it maybe for other regions but that won’t be the case in Malaysia at least. The device has been spotted in Malaysia through Huawei’s official online retail store VMall Malaysia.
The new Nova 2i comes with Huawei’s new fullView display and dual camera modules on the front and back. While Huawei haven’t listed any information about the device’s display and if our speculations are true regarding the Maimang 6 rebranding for the international market, then we could safely assume that it got the same 5.99-inch display and an 18:9 Aspect ratio with minute bezels. It’s resolution is hard to guess however but as soon as official specs goes out, we’ll update this article.
Powering the device is Kirin 659 with 8-core CPU paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, Huawei didn’t mention regarding external storage for the device but then again, if this one right here came straight from the Maimang 6, there will be a microSD slot available for memory expansion.
Another highlight about the new device are the dual camera setup, on the front you’ll get a 13 Megapixel paired to 2 Megapixel shooter, as you would have known, keeping two cameras in place means Bokeh effect and other features come into play and what could be more interesting when taking DSLR-like photos straight from your smartphone. On the back it’s the same thing but with a better sensor we guessed at 16 Megapixel plus 2 Megapixel sensor taking care of the depths. Both of these modules carries the same functionalities and features but the main camera module on the back will be responsible for landscape photos.
The Nova 2i comes with a fingerprint sensor on the back and features gesture interactions. Drawing an “S” on the screen takes a “long screenshot” which captures everything on the screen as you scroll. There’s also a double tap to take instant screenshot and tap twice with two fingers to start screen recording.
The new handset runs on an embedded 3340 mAh battery, driving the new Huawei Nova 2i is Android 7.0 Nougat with EMUI 5.1 out of the box. When it becomes available, users have the option to choose these colors: Blue, Black, and Gold. As for the Pricing, the company is yet revealed the cost of the handset as well as its official availability.
