Huawei HarmonyOS 2.0 Beta is basically still Android

Huawei users are eagerly waiting for the company to release its HarmonyOS to existing compatible devices in the market. While the new operating system hints on putting Android aside, the HarmonyOS 2.0 Beta version tells a familiar story as it turns out to be closely similar to Android if not of the same.

One developer digged deeper into the system and found similarities on both operating systems. A simple “Hello world” app running in virtual machines of both Android and HarmonyOS opens a very similar looking dialog boxes and that can also be said with other things, however, instead of “Android”, the message says “HarmonyOS”.

As the developer went on to open the system partition, this has confirmed his early theory and that the Huawei HarmonyOS is based on Android’s framework.

This isn’t really as surprising as it sound though as Huawei earlier admitted that the AOSP (Android Open Source Project) is the company’s stepping stone in the creation of HarmonyOS. This is also the primary reason why HarmonyOS natively support virtually every Android app in the market, unless those apps needs the Google Services Framework from which HarmonyOS doesn’t have.
