New patents are regularly submitted for future plans and Huawei seems to have this in mind: A extendable display.

As if a foldable display weren’t enough, Huawei was caught filing a patent for a extending display on their own. The new patent was found out by LetsGoDigital and has a similar concept shown by TCL a while back.

There are two mechanisms on how it would work and they are presented below:

Model A: Bezel less and extends the display from the right.

Model B: Screen extends from the left.

Both models uses an undisclosed extending mechanism while utilizing a foldable display. While this can be applied to a consumer device, we however are speculative on their build quality as even the current foldable devices such as the Huawei Mate X and the Huawei Mate XS still feels more like a concept phone than a daily driver.
