Cars for model year 2020 has a lot of surprises for consumers that one would want to order one. from the likes of Nissan and Mitsubishi, Honda also unveiled their 2020 models with the All-New Honda Jazz in October and now a month later its sedan sibling the next generation Honda City got unveiled in Thailand.

By the way it looks, the exterior of the All-New Honda City took most of its design cues from its predecessor however, Honda says that the next-gen City is lower and wider than before. The design itself is directly inspired from the Honda Civic with the front-end featuring Honda’s “Solid Wing Face” design with slim headlights, bolder grill and an LED-Daytime Running Lights (DRL) as standard.

The roofline of the 2020 Honda City is sleeker and whooper while the back got an overhauled design with the wrap-around tail lights. The trunk lid also gets a more prominent lip like it has an integrated lip spoiler.

While some says the all-new Honda City is sportier, that might depends on one’s own perspective, I personally think the current generation Honda City looks way sportier than the incoming model but for the new generation City sedan, will all the refinements and aesthetic updates, I’d say it’s more luxurious than sporty.

Inside the cabin is a different story though, the 2020 Honda City looks to get an upgrade down up with a soft leathery surface and more premium detailed interior. The new vertically-oriented AC grills makes someone feels like inside a luxury car.

The instrument cluster is still analog though but it’s as detailed as always with all the information you need about the car. The infotainment system now features an 8-inch touch panel with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support. As for the climate controls, it heads back to physical knobs and buttons.

What makes the All-New Honda City 2020 more appealing is the fact that it is now powered by a 1 Liter Turbocharged three-cylinder VTEC engine mated to CVT which is now a standard for the model. It produces 122 PS and 173 Nm of Torque which equals the same amount of power we have on the current 1.5L VTEC engine.

With less engine displacement, it makes less fuel consumption that during the unveiling event in Thailand, Honda claims that the new City would go about 23.8 kilometers a liter. I bet that claim was a result from a controlled environment to some extent but given the fact that the new 2020 Honda City could pull that out from its optimum performance, then it’s safe to say that the new City is indeed economical whichever situation one is driving.

In Thailand, The All-New 2020 Honda City is available in these variants: 1.0 Turbo S, 1.0 Turbo V, 1.0 Turbo SV, and the top of the line 1.0 Turbo RS. For the SV variant, it gets leather trims while the RS gets more of that with sportier feel.
