We loved Nokia for the fact that it promises up to two upgrade cycles without fail as it ships their devices with Android One and for the fact that it supposed to get speedy Android upgrades next the Google devices. But that wasn’t the case anymore as Nokia smartphone portfolio piles up each year.
That can be said true to the HMD Global’s latest Nokia 8.3 5G which was said to rollout Android 11 update before the end of 2020. That didn’t happened and instead the company is rolling the update today making it the first Nokia device to have updated to the latest version of Android.
Android 11 brought a lot of improvements to Nokia devices including better conversation management and native support for Chat Bubbles, unified permission grants for apps that needs access to device’s mic, camera, location and etc.
It also include support for Google Play Store-based security updates and fixes and including the latest January 2021 Google Security Patch.
The new software update weighs about 1.89GB carrying V2.180 version number under Android 11 operating system.
The update is rolled out in batches and are based on location. However you can check the update manually through the Settings Menu .
