Following the new path that Google is taking with its Material Design schema, the search giant is preparing a massive visual overhaul to its Google Play service. Android Police has obtained a number of screenshots from the unreleased and currently under development Google Play Store.

From their screenshots, it was clear that Google is finally taking step to make their services more visually appealing both on the web as well on devices where Google apps were installed. We have seen new visual elements for some time now especially on Google+ and document editing services from Google and now the Play store will soon have the same treatment.

The above image shows the Google Play in Action when loaded to a Nexus 7 tablet. It features a large hero image on the background and the app details on the forefront. Movies and TV series will use their respective trailers while books and magazines will have to settle with an expanded headers since their covers are almost always represented rectangular which does not blend well with hero images.

Moreover, the app on smartphones represents the same design and styling with all the large artworks and stuff which really pave the way to a new and more modern Play Store.

What’s presented upfront are the things that gives an overview of the app or the item with the necessary buttons to acquire to selected feature. all other things sits at the bottom which users will then need to scroll down to view them.

The App is currently a work in progress and as our source has stated, they have no possession of a .apk for the Play store app so getting a first hand overview is quite limited to insiders at the moment. But looking at the progress that Google has made, the app seems ready for primetime but still has more room for improvements as it gets closer to release.
