Seeing a flip phone these days seems nostalgic as this part of the world is almost entirely been dominated by smartphones. Samsung and LGalready are successful when infusing smartphone features on a flip phone, now Gionee is taking part of the cake as they unveiled the new W909. Like its South Korean competitors, Gionee’s W909 flip phone is a full-featured smartphone device with dual displays and will be on the premium side of things.
The dual display is a 4.2-inch 720p touchscreen IPS while flipping up the phone reveals a full set of familiar numeric keypad, users can also take advantage of the touchscreen display to do the navigationand workaround while the numeric keypads takes care of the dialing and a more convenient and conventional texting and other numeric and text inputs.
The Gionee W909 runs on an older Android 5.1 (Lollipop) operating system with a custom Amigo UI on top. Under the hood is a MediaTek Helio P10 chipset with an octa-core CPU and 4 GB of system RAM. An ample amount of storage is included with the device at 64 GB plus a microSD card slot for storage expansion with support of up to 128 GB microSD cards.The handset is equipped with a 16 Megapixel main camera with LED flash and a 5 Megapixel shooter for Selfies.
Apart from the things we mentioned, the Gionee W909 also features a fingerprint reader right below the main camera and there’s a USB Type-C port for charging and faster data transfers. And finally, the flip smartphone comes with a faux leather back cover housing a 2,530 mAh battery.Gionee’s new W909 costs 3,999 Yuan in China or roughly about US $616.
