Facebook introduces their new Facebook Lite app for Android – a lightweight version of the company’s app with features stripped down to its core components leaving users with news feeds, push notification and messaging features intact.

Facebook lite for Android is quick to install and only weighs less than a megabyte or 430 kb to be exact compared to the 250 MB of a fully featured Facebook app. Given the very light footprint, the new Facebook Lite can be installed on any device with Android 2.2 or later. It also loads faster and is designed to work over 2G networks and in areas with slow and unstable connection so you could still be updated even with intermittent wireless connection. It also uses less data so you could be sure that you’ll get to enjoy Facebook more without hurting your pocket

Facebook launched the new Facebook Lite app in India and the Philippines, while the company has its plans to release the app to other countries and regions, it’s still unknown when will it arrive and which region should get the app next. Facebook now comes in both the full version and the Lite version available on Google Play so if you want to have a full Facebook experience then get the full Facebook app, otherwise get the Lite version if you’re constraint constantly with limited connectivity and low storage space.
