COVID-19 in the Philippines seems out of control as 943 new cases were reported by DOH

The Department of Health (DOH) released COVID-19 Daily Bulletin No. 98 for June 20, 2020 at 7:00 PM. This bulletin reports an alarming 943 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 for the day with details listed below:

Fresh Cases: 578 (NCR: 218 / Region 7: 296 / Others: 64)

Late Cases: 365 (NCR: 60 / Region 7: 147 / Others: 158)

With these numbers together with yesterday’s figure, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country is now at 29,400 with a Death toll of 1150 after 20 new reported deaths were added.

The bulletin also reports 272 new recoveries, which puts our total number of recoveries to 7,650.

COVID-19 was declared by World Health Organization (WHO) as a Pandemic on March 03, 2020 which started in Wuhan, China. The disease is caused by Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome – coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV2) with a Flu like symptoms such as Fever, Cough, Colds and in more severe cases Difficulty in Breathing.

Pharmaceuticals around the world are actively engaged in clinical research, testing and trials for vaccines to eradicate the COVID-19 virus and to conclude their efficacy and effectiveness. As the world awaits for a vaccine for COVID-19, the only way to protect ourselves from getting infected is to practise proper and frequent handwashing, avoid touching our face, mouth, nose and eyes. Our health experts as well as the government urged everyone to wear a suitable and effective face mask as often as possible and when outside of our homes.
