COVID-19 cases in the Philippines crosses the 12 thousand mark as the country prepares to ease its Quarantine protocols tomorrow

DOH released COVID-19 CASE BULLETIN #62 at 16:00H (4:00PM PST) on May 15, 2020.

At the last day of our Enhanced Community Quarantine or (ECQ), the Department of Health reports 215 new COVID-19 cases in the country which now crossed the twelfth thousand mark at 12,091 confirmed cases. Like it had been for days, the most number of cases are coming from the NCR with 144 cases. In region 7 there’s only two reported positive cases in the region with the remaining numbers are found on other regions in the country with 69 new cases reported.

The death toll in the country also crossed a new mark today with 16 new deaths and that totals to 806.

We have around 2,460 confirmed recoveries so far, after 123 new recoveries were reported today.


COVID-19 was declared by World Health Organization (WHO) as a Pandemic on March 03, 2020 which started in Wuhan, China. The disease is caused by Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome – coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV2) with a Flu like symptoms such as Fever, Cough, Colds and in more severe cases Difficulty in Breathing.

There are no vaccines or direct cure for the disease at the moment and the only way to protect ourselves from getting infected is to practise proper and frequent handwashing, avoid touching our face, mouth, nose and eyes. Our health experts as well as the government urged everyone to wear a suitable and effective face mask as much as possible and when outside of our homes.
