Cherry Mobile is one of the country’s leading local smartphone brand with affordable devices for the mass market. As technology progresses, the company adopts as well. With the 5G era on us, Cherry Mobile is also looking forward to bring 5G phones to its customers.
“We just want to make sure it is right time and right pricing to launch,” Cherry Mobile VP and Head of Products and Development Lonson Alejandrino told us in a phone interview. Alejandrino adds that they are working closely with MediaTek in developing a 5G device that will be affordable for consumers.
Cherry Mobile is yet to decide which MediaTek chipset they are going to take but Alejandrino shared that the company is considering the MediaTek Dimensity 800 SoC which supports a variety of new mobile technologies including a 2CC carrier aggregation, support for SA and NSA sub-6Ghz networks for 5G.
