Together with the launch of Google’s Android One initiative in the country, Cherry Mobile also introduced the new Cherry Mobile One. A handset made and exclusively available for the Android One project. It features a simple and minimalistic look with no frills that should be easy for users to get familiar with even for the first time users. At first glance, you’ll notice that the Cherry Mobile One looks like a miniature version of the Nexus 7 with its large bezel on the top and bottom of the device. Despite their almost similar design, the smartphone is a different beast altogether.
As part of Android One, we should expect the CM: One to be affordable, but being affordable doesn’t mean its cheap, Google has been with its partners working together to bring a quality-built well balance handset and that’s where the new CM: One shows up. build to conform with Google’s specs, the handset itself ensures durability from ground up. Google is also committed to periodically freshen up all Android One devices whenever new software updates are available as long as the specs within these devices fully support the updates.
The Cherry Mobile One features a 4.5-inch display with 218 ppi pixel density, at the heart is a MediaTek Quad-core chipset running at 1.3 GHz with 1 GB of RAM. There’s an 8 GB of internal storage space with micro-SD slot for memory expansion of up to 32 GB micro-SD cards, Cherry Mobile also include a free 8 GB of micro-SD card to begin which will give users a total of 16 GB of storage for their contents and stuff.
Follow Google’s recommendations, the Cherry Mobile One is equipped with a 5-Megapixel rear camera coupled with LED flash to assist in low-lighting conditions, on the front is a 2-Megapixel camera which should bring high-resolution video calls and quality selfie images.
For connectivity, the CM: One includes two SIM slots both supports micro-SIM with both active and on standby. It supports 3G/HSPA+ wireless connectivity in addition to 2G/GSM. Other connectivity features includes Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS with A-GPS and FM Radio.
Software is what the Android One devices stands out from the rest, so right out of the box, the new CM: One will be running the latest Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system with auto update if new software updates are available. It also comes with a complete line-up of Google services for mobile devices so it’s a ready-to-go handset even at first boot up.
The Cherry Mobile One is up for only 3,999.00 Php with free Over-The-Air software updates straight from Google and a handful of free apps downloads from Google Play with no extra charge for the first 6 months when using either Smart or Sun Cellular wireless networks.
