Cherry Mobile is widely known to sell out affordable devices and most of the time these devices are not passing the 10,000 Php mark, but there are times when glamour as they say could touch below that mark. The CM: Equinox Night delivers specs that mostly found only on high-end devices in a mid-range package.

One selling point that the company has marketed the new Equinox Night is the Quad-core Mediatek processor MT6589T with the “T” prefix on the end of that model number that signifies “Turbo”. This simply means the device is equipped with the fastest variant of Mediatek’s Quad-core chipset. It also comes with PowerVR SGX544 graphics processor and 1 GB of RAM for rich graphics and overall system performance that favors graphic intensive apps and games. On the least side of things, there is a 4 GB onboard memory but we don’t think this can still be justifiable today as apps and games are getting larger and media files are getting bigger, on-board storage should be at least at the minimum of 8 GB or more to ensure better content accommodation.

To put all that gaming and high performance graphics into good use, the CM:Equinox Night is equipped with 5-inch IPS LCD display with One Glass Solution (OGS) technology with 1080p full-HD output in 441 pixel per inch, making the Equinox Night as one of the top local devices to feature such quality display. For Protection, the touchscreen panel is protected by DragonTrail Scratch Resistant Glass – this has provided a few more layer of protection for such a nice display.

In the imaging department. the Equinox Night doesn’t want to lag behind the competition. It boosts an 18 Megapixel primary camera as advertised, but one of our secondary source suggests that the camera sensor on the Equinox Night can only produce 12 Megapixel images and with software interventions, the images captured from the camera are interpolated producing  18 Megapixel image output.  The main camera also features BSI technology and a dual LED flash which helps in taking photos in low-light conditions. On the front, the camera can output of up to 3 Megapixel images which is more than enough for video calls and taking self portraits.

For connectivity, CM: Equinox Night supports 3G, HSPA+, 2G and 2.5G wireless networks. For local and nearby connections, the device also features Wi-Fi connectivity with Wi-Fi hotspot support, Bluetooth, GPS, FM Radio and microUSB for data transfers and charging.

The CM: Equinox Night is powered by a 2,300 mAh battery which is unfortunately non-removable, however, users need not to worry as Cherry Mobile is giving out free powerbank for every purchase of Equinox Night.

Cherry Mobile Equinox Night comes with Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) with pre-installed Cherry Mobile’s custom apps. For 9,999 Php, the Equinox Night sits in the middle of Mid-Range devices and is now available in all Cherry Mobile Stores, kiosks and partner retailer outlets nationwide.
