Earlier this week local phone brand Cherry Mobile surprisingly announced a new line of devices powered by Microsoft’s Windows operating system. The new devices will be part of the company’s new Alpha series baring Windows Phone 8.1 for its smartphones and Windows 8.1 for tablets and convertibles.

For smartphones, Cherry Mobile brings in the new Alpha Style and Alpha Luxe, both of which is powered by Windows Phone 8.1 mobile operating system. For tablets, there is the new Alpha Play which looks to take a significant competition with 7-8-inch Android tablets and iPads. for users who may wish a full-blown notebook PC but more handy, there’s the new Alpha Morph, a tablet/notebook convertible which is a powerhouse between the two tablets.

Cherry Mobile is widely known to bring in  new devices at a very affordable prices. Though they have ventured in a whole new market with Windows Phone, the company still continues its tradition that’s making devices from the company a major hit in our local market.

Along with the new Windows-based smartphones, Cherry Mobile also introduced two new tablets under the new Alpha series. These two new tablets runs on a full version of Windows 8.1 so users will have the full Windows 8 desktop experience with all windows native desktop applications compatible with the new tablets.

The CM: Alpha Play is currently the cheapest Windows 8.1 tablet from the company, it features an 8-inch IPS HD touch screen display and a number of ports which includes HDMI and standard USB 3.0 port in addition to the microSD card slot. These ports are found on one side of the tablet together with the headphone and charging ports.

In terms of form factors, it similarly functions as the convertible PC’s from known brands like Asus, HP, and Acer to name a few.
