Blogging platform Blogger bans sexually explicit contents starting March 23, 2015

Blogger – a Google-owned blogging platform announced an update to its policy on the platform content. Starting March 23, 2015 the platform will no longer allow its users to share images and videos depicting explicit nudity and sex throughout the site. Existing accounts made before March 23, 2015 that contains such elaborated sexual content will be automatically made private and only the owner, the blog admin and the people who the owner shares the content with will be the only ones to view those contents.

Though the changes in Bloggers policy would affect many, not everyone is block from posting nudity on the platform. Google has stated that with substantial public benefit, Blogger will allow nudity in its site unless the content is for artistic, educational, documentary or scientific in contexts. After March 23 this year, any blog or account created after that date that posts sexually explicit contents will either be removed or will face further actions as stated in Blogger’s new content policy.

Google has already sent notifications to its users regarding the new changes and has given affected users a few options change their blogs before the new policy takes effect.

Remove contents that shows sexually explicit contents such as images and videos from the blog
Make the Blog Private

Users that may wish to take down their site may do so. Google will allow users to save their work and export them on a xml file which they can export to other blogging platform or archive all their contents including data entries, images and videos using the Google Takeout.
