Black Shark 3 and 3 Pro announced: 90Hz display, Snapdragon 865 and physical shoulder triggers
While most of us look at flagship devices as potentially the best devices out in the market for mobile gaming, yet manufacturers like Xiaomi thinks you still need a gaming-centric device to fully enjoy mobile gaming.

Just recently, Black Shark 3 was announced with a set of new features and a dedicated hardware only for gaming.
Black Shark 3 Pro
The cream-of-the-crop with a large 7.1-inch OLED screen with QHD+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. It also boosted the fasted 270Hz touch-sampling rate to date making it the most responsive, virtually lag free screen interactions.

Up to the task to take a beating, the Black Shark 3 Pro is powered by no other than a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chipset with Adreno 650 GPU and comes with 5G modem for connectivity. That processing powered is paired with either 8GB or 12GB of RAM with the former being an LPDDR4X variant while the latter is on faster LPDDR5. For storage, it only comes with a single storage option of 256GB from which unfortunately has no memory slot for storage expansion.
The new smartphone gaming device also comes for a considerable hardware for imaging from which the main modules has a trio of sensors including a 64 Megapixel main camera with bright f/1.8 Aperture lens, 13 Megapixel with Ultra Wide lens and a 5 Megapixel depth sensor. On the front, it comes with a 20 Megapixel Selfie sensor. Though imaging is not Black Sharks area of expertise but like its predecessor, still expect a superb quality in images from this device.

We’ve mentioned earlier about new features, Xiaomi built the Black Shark 3 with a huge battery rated at 5000 mAh that supports 65W fast charging capabilities. Xiaomi claims that the new fast-charging tech will be able to fill the handset’s battery from zero to a handset in just 38 minutes. It also has a magnetic charging accessory that has a 18W charging output to keep your gaming pace going when needing a fill up.

With the Pro variant, the Black Shark 3 comes with physical pop-up triggers designed primarily for gaming. It replaced Black Shark’s air triggers of its predecessor with Xiaomi promising up to 300,000 presses for this triggers without any issues. and to complete the immersive gaming experience, Xiaomi included a 3.5mm audio jack so users can connect the best wired gaming headsets around.

When there’s a Pro, it also has its base variant, at least that’s the case on mobile devices and the vanilla version of the new Black Shark 3 offers a tone-down on feature but they will share most of the same design and primary performance specifications.

The vanilla Black Shark 3 sport a smaller 6.67-inch display and comes with full-HD+ resolution screen. Though it runs on the same Snapdragon 865 chipset, it has its own optional storage spaces including a 128GB and 256GB. RAM is available on 8GB or at 12GB.

With smaller screen, Black Shark 3 also has a smaller battery at 4,720 mAh but still supports fast charging as the Pro variant. Another missing on the vanilla version of the handset is the physical trigger set.
The new Black Shark 3 is now available in Lightning Black, Armor Gray, and Star Silver with retail prices starting at CNY 3,499. The Black Shark 3 Pro on the other hand starts at CNY 4,699 and will be available on March 17 in Phantom Black and Armor Gray.
