Back in the 90’s, there was a digital revolution among kids and kids at heart when Bandai launched their first ever Tamagotchi, a digital creature which resides in an egg-shape device where you can actually interact with it and feed it like a real pet. It was so popular back then that it took over the world by storm.
25 years later, Bandai is re-introducing the beloved digital pet to celebrate its 25th Anniversary. New kids and owners can actually be with their pets all the time as they with with the new Tamagotchi Smart – a smartwatch which owners can actually wear. It still features all the basic functions and actions from the original Tamagotchi in the 1990’s and even more interactive that’s to the touchscreen function on the watch which makes it more easier play with your digital pet.

What’s more is that the creatures and their environment are displayed in color and even features a wireless connectivity that allows interacting with other Tamagotchi’s. It also comes with a voice recognition function for chatting, a digital watch face and a pedometer for a smartwatch experience.
However, the smartwatch is reportedly has a low battery life which only gives around 30 hours of operation in a single charge.

The new Tamagotchi Smart will be initially sold though a lottery but the device will go on sale on November 23 for 7,480 Yen and that’s around US$68. Similar to other games available in the market, buyers will also be able to unlock extra content with a small physical keys which is sold separately for 1,100 Yen or for US$10.
There’s no word though if they would go outside of Japan but we’ll see.
