Asus officially announced the new selfie-centric Zenfone Selfie with 13 Megapixel cameras

Joining the selfie-centric and highly specialized devices for the love of self-portraits, Asus has officially announced their new Zenfone Selfie at Asus Zensation event over Computex 2015 in Taipei Taiwan. The new handset brings the features of the Zenfone line of devices to individuals who’d spend most of their time taking a picture of themselves with the Zenfone Selfie’s high-resolution 13 Megapixel camera on the front that’s going a clear head-to-head match with the likes of HTC’s Desire Eye.

From the looks of it, the hardware itself seems a mix of a number of worlds where at the front you’ll get the familiar Zenfone’s face then over the top is a noticeably prominent camera sensor where it got its name that may just remind us about HTC’s Desire Eye, while on the back is something like the one’s from LG. Setting the looks aside, the overall view of the handset is relatively Asus Zenfone with the designed and interface and quality that Asus always assures its customers.

Spec-wise, the new Asus Zenfone Selfie packs a 5.5-inch full-HD IPS LCD display and unlike most of the Zenfone in the market, The Zenfone Selfie is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor with Adreno 405 graphics processor. The handset will be available in 2GB or 4 GB of RAM models just like the latest Zenfone 2 models together with a number of storage options that ranges from 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB of internal storage.

The Zenfone Selfie’s main attraction is its camera and that’s what this handset sets itself apart from the regular Zenfone 2 models. It comes equipped with a 13 Megapixel Toshiba sensor both on the front a back with the two camera’s offering wide angle lens, laser auto focus and LED flash. The front camera where features and greatly stuffed for this handset has an 88-degree 24mm wide-angle lens and features a f/2.2 aperture while the camera on the back comes with a f/2.0 aperture and 28 mm lens.

While the handset offers a great deal for selfie-centric individuals already, Asus also got a wide range of accessories for the new Zenfone Selfie including a Swing adjustment to adjust a selfie angle which will also act as a kickstand. Though Asus already made the handset official, there’s still no word for its availability and pricing but we’d expect this to come out sooner than later.
