The new iPad mini is here and it’s call the “iPad mini 3”, we’ve already this is coming since Apple leaked about the device just before it’s launched. Compared to the iPad mini 2/Retina, the iPad mini is barely unchanged with barely much noticeable difference from its predecessor.
Most of the things on the new iPad mini 3 isn’t new at all, despite being the third generation of the iPad mini, at first glance the device seems to have not change much from its previous iteration. The display is still from the second gen mini with 7.9-inch at 1536 x 2048 resolution and still measures at 7.9mm and weighs the same as the iPad mini 2. The camera stayed the same as it still comes with a 5 Megapixel iSight camera and an HD FaceTime camera.
What makes it different from the second gen iPad mini is that Apple now includes Touch ID fingerprint sensor and added Apple Play plus a new Gold chassis. Apple also omitted the 32 GB option for the iPad mini 3 which means the pricing will significantly go down for both the 64 GB and 128 GB variants to cover the missing space previously slotted for the 32 GB variant.
The device will start shipping by the end of next week in 29 major countries and Apple will start taking pre-orders tomorrow for the 16GB, 64GB and 128GB variants. Prices starts at $400 then $500 and $600 respectively for the Wi-Fi only devices. Users will have to at $130 if they want to have LTE connectivity.
