The new iPhone 18 Pro models bring Apple’s latest A20 Pro chip, a new variable-aperture 48MP Fusion Main camera, improved battery life, a redesigned Dynamic Island and new Apple Intelligence capabilities powered by iOS 27.

Apple is also offering the new Pro models with up to 2TB of storage, giving the lineup a particularly strong appeal to photographers, videographers and other content creators.

For Filipino buyers, the iPhone 18 Pro starts at Php 94,990, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max starts at Php 99,990 on Apple’s Philippine online store.

Here’s everything you need to know about Apple’s latest flagship iPhones.

iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max: What’s New?

The iPhone 18 Pro generation focuses on four major areas: camera, performance, battery life and artificial intelligence. Apple says the new Pro models feature its most advanced iPhone camera system yet, with the 48MP Fusion Main camera gaining variable aperture for the first time.

The phones are powered by the new A20 Pro chip, which Apple says uses a 2-nanometer process and delivers substantial improvements in graphics and AI processing compared with the previous generation. The Pro models also introduce a redesigned Dynamic Island capable of displaying up to three Live Activities simultaneously.

Design and Display

The new iPhone 18 Pro comes with a 6.3-inch Super Retina XDR display, while the new iPhone 18 Pro Max features a larger 6.9-inch display. Both models retain Apple’s ProMotion technology, Always-On display and Dynamic Island.

Apple is offering the new iPhones in four color variants:

  • Black
  • Silver
  • Glacier
  • Burgundy

The new Burgundy color variant is the most distinctive addition to the lineup standing as the new flagship color for 2026. The iPhone 18 Pro uses an aluminum unibody construction and continues to feature Apple’s Ceramic Shield protection.

A20 Pro Chip

The biggest performance upgrade is Apple’s new A20 Pro processor. Built using a 2-nanometer manufacturing process, A20 Pro features a six-core CPU, seven-core GPU and a Dual 16-core Neural Engine. Apple says the new GPU can deliver up to a 40 percent performance increase over A19 Pro, while memory bandwidth has increased by 50 percent.

The chip is also designed specifically to handle more demanding artificial intelligence workloads. That makes the A20 Pro important not only for traditional smartphone performance but also for Apple’s increasingly AI-focused iPhone experience.

The iPhone 18 Pro’s Biggest Camera Upgrade

The most interesting hardware change may be the camera. The new 48MP Fusion Main camera introduces variable aperture to the iPhone for the first time. The camera uses six laser-cut blades that can automatically or manually adjust the aperture depending on the lighting and desired depth of field. Users can select from four aperture settings, including a wide ƒ/1.48 setting for low-light photography and a narrower ƒ/4 setting for greater depth of field.

This gives the iPhone 18 Pro a level of camera control that goes beyond simply increasing megapixel counts.

Three 48MP Rear Cameras

The Pro camera system includes:

  • 48MP Fusion Main with variable aperture
  • 48MP Fusion Ultra Wide
  • 48MP Fusion Telephoto

Apple is also adding more manual controls to the Camera app. Users can adjust settings such as: Aperture, Shutter speed, White balance, Histogram, Lens selection. This makes the iPhone 18 Pro more attractive to serious photographers and video creators who want greater control over their shots.

New Apple Reference Image Feature

Apple is also introducing Apple Reference Image, a system designed to help users establish the authenticity of photographs. When enabled, the iPhone can create a reference image containing signed sensor data that can be used to compare the original capture against an edited version.

Apple says the feature is intended to help photographers, journalists and everyday users determine whether an image has been modified.

18MP Center Stage Front Camera

The front camera also receives a major upgrade. The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max feature an 18MP Center Stage front camera. Center Stage can automatically adjust framing for photos, video calls and recordings. The camera also supports features such as Dual Capture, tap-to-zoom and rotate, and ultra-stabilized video.

For creators who regularly use an iPhone for social media content, livestreaming or video calls, the front camera could be one of the more noticeable upgrades.

Professional Video Features

Apple continues to push the iPhone as a professional video-production tool. The iPhone 18 Pro supports advanced video capabilities including:

  • 4K Dolby Vision
  • ProRes
  • ProRes RAW
  • Apple Log 2
  • Cinematic effects
  • Improved low-light video
  • Advanced audio processing

Apple is also adding the ability to apply Cinematic effects after recording to supported video captured at up to 60fps.

For creators, the combination of variable aperture, improved stabilization and professional video formats makes the iPhone 18 Pro one of Apple’s most capable mobile filmmaking tools yet.

Longer Battery Life

Battery life is another major focus of the new generation. Apple says the iPhone 18 Pro can provide up to 36 hours of video playback on eSIM-only models, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max can reach up to 45 hours. The Pro Max receives the biggest battery-life improvement, helped by its larger battery and efficiency improvements from the A20 Pro chip.

Apple also says the iPhone 18 Pro can charge to around 50 percent in approximately 15 minutes under supported fast-charging conditions.

Up to 2TB of Storage

Storage options range from 256GB to 2TB.

256GB₱94,990₱99,990
512GB₱110,990₱115,990
1TB₱142,990₱147,990
2TB₱189,990₱194,990

Apple’s Philippine store currently lists these configurations and prices.

The 2TB models will likely be most attractive to users who shoot large amounts of high-resolution video.

iOS 27 and Apple Intelligence

The iPhone 18 Pro lineup ships with iOS 27, Apple’s latest mobile operating system. A major part of the software experience is the next generation of Apple Intelligence. Apple is introducing Siri AI, which is designed to understand personal context, interact with information across supported apps and respond more conversationally.

Apple Intelligence also gains new capabilities for photography, Safari and other parts of the operating system. Apple says its AI system uses a combination of on-device processing and Private Cloud Compute to balance capability with privacy.

However, availability can vary by language and region, so Filipino users should check Apple’s regional availability information before assuming every announced AI feature will be available locally.

Connectivity

The iPhone 18 Pro lineup includes Apple’s new N1 wireless networking chip, supporting:

  • Wi-Fi 7
  • Bluetooth 6
  • Thread

The devices also introduce Apple’s C2 cellular modem system, which Apple says improves cellular performance and efficiency. USB-C remains the physical connector for the iPhone 18 Pro models.

iPhone 18 Pro vs iPhone 18 Pro Max

For buyers trying to decide between the two models, the differences are relatively straightforward.

The iPhone 18 Pro Max is therefore primarily for buyers who want the biggest display and longest battery life. The regular iPhone 18 Pro offers essentially the same core camera and processing experience in a smaller package and at a lower starting price.

iPhone 18 Pro Philippine Price and Availability

Apple’s Philippine online store currently lists the iPhone 18 Pro starting at Php 94,990 and the iPhone 18 Pro Max starting at Php 99,990. Storage options extend to 2TB, with the highest-capacity Pro Max reaching Php 194,990.

Apple’s global announcement states that pre-orders begin September 12, with initial availability beginning September 18. Local availability may vary by Apple Store, authorized reseller and carrier.

Should You Upgrade to the iPhone 18 Pro?

For owners of considerably older iPhones, the iPhone 18 Pro represents a substantial upgrade.

The biggest reasons to consider upgrading are the new A20 Pro chip, variable-aperture camera, improved battery life, new professional camera controls and the latest Apple Intelligence features.

Owners of a recent Pro model may have fewer reasons to upgrade immediately. The biggest attraction for existing high-end users will likely be the new camera system, particularly variable aperture and the expanded manual controls.
