Another Mate 9 from Huawei becomes official and this time its the Mate 9 lite

Huawei already have their flagship Mate 9 and the Mate 9 Pro handset in the market (China I mean), however the Mate 9expansion doesn’t stop there asthe Chinese company just listed the new Mate 9 lite. The newly listed handset obviously is a much more affordable version of the Mate 9 series but with that affordability also means there’s something pulled out in between.

The new Huawei Mate 9 lite is a mid-ranger with a sup par specs compared to its muscled up siblings, that also means that this isn’t for those looking for top-notch hardware specs for a Mate 9 device let along that being handled by the top dogs of the series, the Lite variant will handle those that wants to enjoy some of the features of the Mate 9 handset without the hefty price tag.

The handset is constructed on a metallic body, so the craftsmanship of a premium Huawei device is there which makes us not to worry about and then there’s the 5.5-inch display with full HD 1080p resolution. With all the rounded corners, the display is made to blend in with the body of the handset through a seamless 2.5D glass lamination on the entire front.

Powering the device will be a slower yet capable Kirin 655 with an octa-core processors mated either to a 3GB or 4GB RAM with a corresponding storage of 32GB and 64GB respectively. It runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow with Huawei’s proprietary EMUI 4.1user interface on top. Keeping the lights on is a 3,340 mAh embedded battery.

Like its big brothers, the Mate 9 lite is also designed for mobile imaging in mind but for this variant the Leica branding has be omitted and while the dual camera setup is still here, their resolutions has been toned-down. It comes equipped with 12 MP + 2 MP dual camera module. The main 12 MP sensor has a 1.25nm pixel size and features phase detection autofocus which allows the camera to focus on subject in just 0.3 seconds. The secondary 2 MP sensor handles the image depth so its easier to create bokeh effects with our photos. The front camera is an 8 MP sensor which will be a good enough equipment for selfies and video calls.

Connectivity-wise, the Mate 9 lite is packed will all the standard connectivity features with full support for Chinese LTE networks and international LTE frequencies which allows it to work outside of China without a hitch. And for other features that has become significant over time is the presence of a fingerprint scanner that is still located on the back of the device.

Like we’ve said earlier, the new Mate 9 lite from Huawei will be available in two variations and eventually prices of these devices goes accordingly. Though Huawei having let the windows open for a sneak peek on pricing and availability, it’s already an obvious case of varying pricing scheme as both variants have a considerable difference in configuration, one would obviously be cheaper than the other but nonetheless are pricier than the premium Mate 9 variants which is a good thing considering the price point difference of all Mate 9 models.
