Android Silver wont takeover the Nexus program after all.
There were numerous reports regarding the Android Silver program that Google has initiated recently would give an end to the Nexus line. But new report from a readwrite interview with David Burke – the head of Android engineering and the Nexus programs tells us otherwise.
According to Burke, “We are still invested in Nexus” which firmly debunks early rumors regarding the Silver program take over. added to that, Burke also commented: “People have been commenting about Nexus because there is something else and they think that means the end of Nexus. That is the totally wrong conclusion to make.”
Android Silver was discussed during the I/O and we ‘ve now understand the intention surrounding the program and how OEM’s can participate in the program. On the other hand, the Nexus line will continue to evolved and will continue to be the primary device from Google to deliver a pure Android experience.
Now that we know that the Nexus is here to stay, confirmed by Burke himself that while the Android team is preparing to complete and deliver the Operating System on time, another team is busy designing the next version of Nexus device. We can now safely say that in a few months time when the new Android “L” starts rolling out, the successor of Nexus 5 will come out as well as they go hand-in-hand together to provide the best optimum user experience of a pure Android environment.
