Seems like the new talk of the town is pointing towards the much awaited Mi 5 from Xiaomi, the alleged handset has been the subject of rumors and speculations recently with now and again leaks of what the handset actually could look like. Earlier, renders of the Mi 5 went online and a follow up of those leaks which are now taking a sort of confirmation that this is how the Xiaomi Mi 5 will look like when it gets release probably by early next year.
The new rendered images showed the handset in all its color options available with Black, Gold, White and Pink. It shows the seemingly 2.5D glass lamination on the handset and the 8 Megapixel snapper on the front. You’ll also notice the prominently placed new home button that also houses the new fingerprint scanner which some people claims to have a close resemblance with Samsung devices, that I couldn’t argue with as I also have the same impression at first glance. The back is clean with a strategically positioned 16 Megapixel camera sensor and the dual LED flash on the upper left corner when the handset is facing backwards.
Xiaomi has been tight-lipped about the Mi 5 but if we take note on the rumors, the upcoming Xiaomi Mi 5 will be available in two variants with one sporting 5.2-inch display and the other could either come in 5.5 or 5.7 inch display, in addition to that, the handset will also have a distinct differences in display resolution as it is expected to come with a full-HD display while other rumors suggests that there’s a QHD panel along the way. We’re not quite sure if the latter is true but if it is, it might shipped with one of these two display sizes.
Ticking inside the Mi 5 is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820, Xiaomi is said to have worked to make the chipset work efficiently and it is actually the newer variant of the chipset where Qualcomm has alleviated the overheating issues found on the first generation of S820. The handset will include a 4 GB of RAM and a choice of either 16 or 64 GB of internal storage space. The larger Mi 5 Plus (or that’s what we call it as of the moment) will include all the features of the regular Mi 5 but will start of with 32 GB of internal storage space. The Snapdragon 820 is still there with 4 GB of RAM.
Keeping the handset operational is the 3030 mAh embedded battery. The handset should boot Xiaomi’s proprietary MIUI 7 and is expected to cost around 1999 Yuan or $309 USD for the 5.2-inch variant, the larger Plus variant will be priced at 2500 Yuan or roughly $387 USD.
Beside the new set of images, we also have the chance to see the alleged Mi 5 handset in action.
