Alcatel’s Support page details the specs of the upcoming One Touch Idol 4 and Idol 4S
Mobile World Congress is just around the corner and when it opens on the 22nd of this month, mobile phone manufacturers and service providers will surely crowd the floor and like everybody else is, Alcatel has something to show off in the event. The company is so excited to bring the new devices that even their own support site had prematurely listed the two upcoming devices the One Touch Idol 4 and One Touch Idol 4S complete with specifications for each.
The new Idol 4 series is an update of last year’s highly successful Idol 3 which are praised by many as a feature packed model for the given price point. It was also one the best that Alcatel launched in 2015 with features that are only commonly found on high-end devices. And with what the update for this year brings, fans and enthusiasts are
One Touch Idol 4

The new One Touch Idol 4 packs a larger 5.2-inch display compared to the model that it replaces, it also comes with a full-HD resolution screen that makes crisp images. Underneath the chassis is also a more than capable chipset which the Idol 4 houses an Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 SoC with 4-cores of ARM Cortex-A53 processors running at 1.7 GHz and another set of slower Cortex-A53’s clocking at 1.2 GHz. Depending on the version, the handset will also be equipped with either 2 GB or 3 GB of RAM.Getting things done is a 16 GB of internal storage with a microSD expansion slot.
Imaging on the new Idol 4 is upgraded into a far more better deal with a 13 Megapixel main camera assisted with Auto Focus and LED flash and an 8 Megapixel front shooter which will prove its worthiness with Selfies and high-resolution video calls. The handset will boot Android 6.0 Marshmallow and is powered by 2610 mAh battery.
One Touch Idol 4S

The One Touch Idol 4S on the other hand takes its cues from the its small sibling the Idol 4 and made a significant improvement on most notable areas. To start off with, the Idol 4S comes with a little larger screen at 5.5-inch in size and comes with a far more better AMOLED panel and a QHD resolution of 1440 x 2560.
Running the show is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 SoC with Octa-core processor. It comes with 4-cores of Cortex-A72 running 1.8 GHz and 4-cores of Cortex-A53’s at 1.4 GHz and is coupled to a 3 GB of system RAM plus 16 GB of internal memory with a microSD slot for storageexpansion.
It also features a much better 16 Megapixel main shooter and an 8 Megapixel front camera for Selfie’s and high-resolution video calls. Like the Idol 4, the Idol 4S will boot Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) and will be powered by a more heftier 3000 mAh battery.
The new Idol 4 handsets is anticipated to follow the Idol 3’s footprints with a significantly affordable price that ranges from $180 – $250. It is understandably that the new handsets is a significant upgrade to last year’s model and is also anticipated to get the same scores of reviews that last year’s handset had enjoyed. The new Idol 4 and the Idol 4S handset is expected to be demoed at MWC 2016 which will open its doors on February 22nd in Barcelona Spain.
