A new flagship killer is here: Meet the Redmi K20 and the Redmi K20 Pro

With Xiaomi’s Redmi series becomes an official sub-brand, it’s time for it to make big changes. Previously, the Xioami’s Redmi devices are designed to make way for the mass market to get affordable and reliable smartphone devices with top-end specs.

Now, the new Redmi brand not only offers new generation affordable devices but also high-end devices with great and affordable price. That can be said to the all-new Redmi K20 series and it’s dubbed as the Flagship Killer 2.0 given that the OnePlus One was thought to be the first.

The new Redmi K20 is available in two flavors: A regular K20 and the high-spec’d K20 Pro.

Redmi K20 Pro

Endowed with the best specs between the two variants, the Pro version is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset and is paired to either a 6GB or 8GB of RAM with storage space between 64GB and 256GB.

It comes with a large 6.39-inch full-HD+ display sporting a 19.5:9 screen aspect ratio. It has a virtually bezel less design with no notch whatsoever and it’s just clean.

For Photography, The K20 Pro is equipped with three cameras on the back with the main camera as a 48 Megapixel Sony IMX586 sensor coupled to a 13 Megapixel sensor with ultra-wide-angle lens. A separate camera from the first two sensors mentioned is an 8 Megapixel camera with a Telephoto lens.

As for Selfies, Xiaomi opted for an elevating front-facing camera for the Redmi K20 Pro with a 20 Megapixel sensor at its disposal.

The cameras from the new K20 Pro is assisted with AI tech to give users the best quality images. One way that makes the new K20 Pro impressive in its imaging department is its support for super-slow-mo video capture at 960fps. Other than that, the new handset supports 4K video recording and 1080p videos.

As a flagship, one needs to get better equipment and what makes the device better nowadays is how they’re going to last for at least the day. The Redmi K20 Pro comes with a 4000 mAh embedded battery which isn’t shy to zip through the day without a hitch. It also supports Fast-charging capabilities with 27W as standard. Xiaomi claims that it could bring the battery from flat to 58% in just half an hour and about 74 minutes for a one full charge.

For gaming, The K20 Pro has Game Turbo 2.0 support which allocates system resources for gaming and has a network smart switch feature that switches between Wi-Fi to 4G network connection and tend to offer zero-lag between switches.

While we’ve mentioned all about the new Redmi K20 Pro, let’s not forget that it also has a second variant. a regular version actually being just the K20.

Redmi K20

The Redmi K20 takes all the aspects of the K20 Pro but is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 730 and is actually the second smartphone in the market powered by the new chipset. It will only be available in one single RAM configuration at 6GB while storage is available in either 64GB or a 128GB.

The display is configured the same as the Pro variant so you’ll get the same amount of experience. Also, the camera setup is the same but for the regular K20, the 48 Megapixel sensor is a Sony IMX582 instead. The battery is rated the same at 4000 mAh but supports 18W charging.

Both the K20 and the K20 Pro will be available for purchase on June 1st as Flash sale kicks at exactly 10am in China.

These devices will be available in either Red or Blue with price for the Redmi K20 at 6GB/64GB at CNY1,999 while the 6GB/128GB version to cost CNY2.099.

The Redmi K20 Pro on the other hand will be available in five different variants as follows:

• 6GB/64GB = CNY2,499
• 6GB/128GB = CNY2,599
• 8GB/128GB = CNY2,799
• 8GB/256GB = CNY2,999

Along with the new Redmi flagship device, Xiaomi is also selling accessories for the K20 and the K20 Pro. There’s a gamepad accessory and a variety of colored plastic-rubbery case for CNY179 and CNY79 respectively.
