Under Republic Act 8239 or the Philippine Passport Law,” a passport shall only be valid for a period of five years regardless of the age of the applicant.

The new bill was effortlessly been approved by the Lower Chamber after a voting of 216-0 during the third and final reading in favor of the passing of the House Bill 4767. As it takes into effect, future passport applications will have a 10-year validity which will lessen the hassles of renewing our passports. Though today’s effort at the Department of Foreign Affairs has improved their services, it’s still more convenient to visit DFA more lesser than previously and it actually saves us money.
