Meet the latest YI Camera, a portable and highly versatile action cam from Xiaomi that not only offers a basic photo and video capture capabilities but also provide a high-resolution image quality that most action camera in the market could only dream of. For now, there were just of few who features high-resolution video recording but the new YI cam from Xiaomi takes the aim for professionals and adventurers whotreasures most of their captured moments in 4K resolution, something to keep for the sake of memories.
For those who wanted to know what’s behind the tech, the latest YI camera comes with Sony’s 12 Megapixel IMX377 imaging sensor that could take either 4K videos at top or still images flawlessly. The device is equipped with 7-element lens with 155 degree wide-viewing angle and an f/2.8 aperture. It also includes 6-axis gyroscope that works with electronic image stabilization.
With the YI cam, users can take 4K resolution videos at 30fps but if the highest resolution is too much, then the action camcan still downsize its resolutions to 2.5K at 30fps or 1440p quality videos at 60fps. It can also take slow motion shots in 1080p at 120fps,960p at 120fps, or 720p at 240fps. Like most action cameras in the market, the YI 4K action camera is also capable to taking time-lapse shots that comes with configurations at 0.5/1/2/5/10/30/60 seconds intervals in 4K.
The YI 4K action camera comes with a 2.19-inch touchscreen display on the back where users can take charge with all the settings needed to start recording and for one that also works as a viewing window. For connectivity, the camera is equipped with Wi-Fi connectivity at dual band 2.4GHz and 5.0GHz and Bluetooth 4.0 that syncs with your smartphone. Keeping the device operational is a 1400 mAh battery which could last up to 2 hours of 4K video recording.
The Xiaomi YI 4K camera will be available in these inbox color options: black, white, and rose gold and will be sold in China with a price of 1199 yuan. Though not mentioned during the announcement, the first YI action cam gains a lot of fans with users ordering them online just to get one of these but Xiaomi haven’t disclosed any information regarding its international availability at the moment with foreign customers hoping to get their hands with this camera not just because it’s a lot cheaper that the competition but also for its tantalizing specs that is pretty hard to resist.
