Microsoft may not be focusing more on Windows Phone this year but they’re sure to be working on making Windows 10 Mobile more improved and feature rich. The Redmond giant is working on a new update for the mobile operating system and when it goes to Windows phone users soon andit will be called the Redstone update.
The Redstone update should comprise a lot of performance improvements and bug fixes and is said to include and number of new features for Window 10 Mobile including a new Camera button for some Windows Phone devices straight from the lock screen. We said “some” because the nature of this button is exclusively available to Windows phone devices that relies on virtual navigation bar that sits at the bottom of the screen and to those devices without a dedicated camera key and in connection to that, devices with dedicated Windows buttons won’t be seeing this feature.
While it would take a while for regular Windows 10 users to have this feature, Windows insiders will get an early experience on the new camera button as it will be included on next week’s update for Windows Insiders users. There are Windows 10 Mobile equipped devices out there that doesn’t have a physical key for the camera and this feature is intended for those devices giving users an easy access to the camera app without the need unlocking the device and browsing through the start screen or from the app lists.
As of the moment, the new camera button isn’t customizable as of yet but we are expecting more changes before the Redstone update becomes available to Windows 10 Mobile users. We do hope however that feedback from Windows Insiders will hint Microsoft that users want more customization on the OS and more personalization options within.
