We’ve already had a couple of local mobile phone companies that jumped into the notebook/hybrid bandwagon and it seems that the industry still needs new players to give consumers more number of choice when getting their portable devices. Enter the new Engage 10 Pro from the Philippines local mobile phone and device company Starmobile. The Engage 10 pro unlike any other from its previous tablet offerings is a full-blown Windows 8.1 Tablet PC that comes with its own dock to become of what we know as a small notebook or a netbook per se, but for devices such as this, we coined the term notebook hybrid which denotes a notebook device turns tablet when the keyboard or the keyboard dock is detached.

To get customers attracted, Starmobile priced the new Engage 10 Pro closely similar to other competing brands while giving a full Windows 8.1 experience and a free 1 year subscription to Microsoft’s productivity suite Office 365. It is lightweight at only 1.18 Kilograms with a dimension of 257 x 172 x 10.1 mm with a 10.1-inch IPS widescreen display.

The Engage 10 Pro is powered by a Quad-Core Intel Atom BayTrail-T chipset running at 1.8 GHz with Hyper-Threading Technology, an Intel HD Graphics Gen 7 and 2 GB of RAM for seamless multitasking and for smooth day-to-day work. It also comes with a 32 GB of built-in storage with a micro-SD card support of up to 64 GB in capacity. As standard in today’s devices, the device comes equipped with 2 camera with one having a 5 Megapixel sensor situated on the back while a 2 Megapixel camera sits on the top most portion on the front.

In a connected world, devices to be more productive must be built with a number of connectivity options ready, with the new Engage 10 Pro, there’s Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth, 2x USB 2.0 ports with one of external peripheral devices and one primarily for the dock and 1x micro-USB 2.0 port, mini-HDMI, a 3.5mm headphone jack and a dedicated AC charging port so users need not to worry when trying to recharge their Engage 10 Pro while devices are attached to the available USB ports.

As we’ve mentioned above, the Engage 10 Pro is a Windows tablet/notebook hybrid with full Windows 8.1 OS with one year subscription on MS Office 365 productivity suite. It also comes with a large 7500 mAh battery which promises up to 8 hours of battery life which keep users more productive. With a price of 11,990.00 Pesos, we say this is much more convenient than a netbook and that the hybrid device is much more suited for people who works on the go and for students that requires a lightweight device to perform their much-needed task without the bulk and price of a notebook.
