Openline variants of HTC One (M8) are now receiving the new Android 5.0 Lollipop update in Malaysia

HTC is now rolling out the new Android 5.0 Lollipop update for the One (M8) starting in Malaysia with users now reporting that their HTC One (M8) devices are starting to receive notification updates via OTA. The update weighs in around 600 MB and comprises the latest Android 5.0 new features and improvements including the new lock screens, Notifications and the multitasking screen.

Despite the new underlying software, HTC remains to include the current Sense 6.0 UI on top. We don’t expect anything new about HTC’s proprietary UI for the latest update with Android 5.0 rolling out to One devices at this time. As early rumors suggests, HTC’s next Sense update is expected on the next HTC’s flagship device the One (M9) which is anticipated to be announced at MWC 2015.

As promised by the Taiwanese device manufacturer, They have set a 90 days delivery of the Android 5.0 update to HTC flagship device which is now happening, earlier last month Google Play edition of the M8 already had the update rolling while the Developer  Edition of the handset received the update just last week and as for the regular carrier unlocked versions of the One (M8), the update just rolled out today. Despite being primarily spotted in Malaysia, we would expect them to be available gradually region by region as HTC carefully rolled out the update in phases.

HTC One (M8) devices are constantly checking for updates from its update servers but if you believe your region has started receiving the update, users can manually check the update if there is any available for the One (M8) by going to: Settings > About > Software.
