Microsoft rolled out a stable version of Windows Phone 8.1 a few days ago that came along with the latest Lumia Cyan Update. Since the first iteration of Windows Phone 8, the lockscreen has been pretty much the same since then. The Windows phone team promised that they’ll be bringing a new lockscreen to the Windows Phone 8.1 but the OS went out with the same familiar lockscreen. But Joe Belfiore the corporate Vice President and manager for Windows Phone program recently tweeted an upcoming app that will change how we look our existing lockscreen and should fulfill the promise that they’ve made awhile back.
Lockscreen app- sorry for being quiet. The beta (English, 1gb+) is ALMOST here, perhaps a week. We hit a few snags & added a feature.

The new lockscreen app will add a few more level of customization on the recently released Windows Phone 8.1, It will also provide more information and new visuals similar to the image we see above. The app will be in beta and maybe available at least in a week or so. Mind though that the app will have some minor limitations at the moment in which it will require devices to have at least 1 GB of RAM and the current device language must be set to English for it to work. But rumors says that the final build will then support at least 512 Mb RAM but that is yet to be determined by the team who are developing the add-on app.
