Motorola outs the new Moto X4, a mid-ranger device endowed with a number of premium features. It comes with a premium-built metal frame sandwiched by Gorilla glass front and back. It also features a dual-camera sensor on the back with bokeh effects, a fingerprint sensor mounted on the front for easy access. The Moto X4 is the latest from the company’s “X” series with a familiar looking design yet it’s distinctly different from all others.
The new handset has a 5.2-inch 1080p IPS display with Corning Gorilla Glass on top. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 SoC with an octa-core cpu running at 2.2GHz along with an Adreno 508 GPU and 3GB of RAM. It has a 32GB internal storage plus a microSD card slot that accepts up to 256GB cards. The new handset will be driven by Android 7.1 (Nougat) out of the box and runs on a 3000 mAh embedded battery. It’s got an IP68 Certification for water and dust resistance of up to 1.5 meters for about 30 minutes.
The new Moto X4 also brings mobile photography in focus with its dual-cam configuration by combining a 12 Megapixel and 8 Megapixel sensors inside its unique circular module and lets users capture photos with bokeh effects. These lenses have a f/2.0 and f/2.2 Apertures respective and a Phase Detection AF on the primary sensor and an LED flash to assist in dark conditions.
On the front side, a 16 Megapixel camera takes the lead for Selfies with its adaptive low light mode and a new Panoramic Selfie feature to get the most of the view leaving a broader range of the Selfie shot.
Feature-wise, the Moto X4 got aplenty, first up is the built-in Amazon Alexa, an AI assistant that can be accessed even if the handset is locked through a voice command. There’s a new bluetooth audio streaming options that can connect up to four wireless speakers in one go. Take a screenshot more easily with a three-finger swipe gesture to screen capture anywhere and anytime. The Moto X4 is also equipped with the Moto Key that lets users access password-protected websites from the phone or PC with a simple tap from the handset.
The new Moto X4 is expected to become available in Europe in September starting at around €399. Other regions will get the Moto X4 from their store shelves toward the end of the 3rd quarter of the year making it available worldwide in time for the holidays.
