Not everyone is jumping into the Smartwatch bandwagon, in fact some are still going into the traditional wrist watch that we’ve known for years. But mixing digital content with cogs and wheels of a mechanical watch has never been integrated seamlessly up to this time, though some prototypes has already been available, none of this developments went into consumer production.
With Montblanc however, the company has manage to joint both worlds into one, by maintaining the physical aspects of the classic watch and offers your digital notifications within the same assembly by having all your digital contents and notifications into an optional e-Strap as what they call it. The e-Strap comes with all the digital goodies that a typical wearable has to offer from your notifications, activity tracker, music controls and even a camera trigger built into the add-on module.
The digital receiver features a 0.9-inch monochrome OLED display that sits on the other end of the Montblanc watch which is under the wearer’s wrist and is held in place by a leather strap. It connects via Bluetooth on either iOS or Android device. It also comes with a companion app for your device where the digital module constantly talks with when connected. Montblanc promised of at least 5 days of continuous use before the module requires another recharge.
The availability of the new watch along with the new e-Strap accessory hasn’t been confirmed yet but the watch itself will cost around €2,990 to €4,690 or about $3,319 to $5,675. The digital module adds another €250 ($300).
