Many of us were wondering when will Microsoft roll out the highly anticipated operating system upgrade for Windows Phone devices. Microsoft already include Windows 10 Mobile to its latest Lumia device like their Lumia 950, Lumia 950 XL, the budget friendly Lumia 550 and the upcoming Lumia 650 however, Pre-Windows 10 devices are still in the loop of uncertainty as Microsoft missed their deadline from which the Redmond giant was supposed to officially roll out the Windows 10 update to Windows Phone 8.1 users.

Now, Microsoft is trying its best effort to assure at least our fellow Windows Phone users who are losing patience for Microsoft to update their devices. However there’s a catch, not all existing Lumia device can upgrade to Windows 10 for some technical reasons. Microsoft recently launch an app called the Upgrade Advisor which will run a sequential test on a Windows device to determine if it’s eligible for a Windows 10 upgrade.

The Upgrade Advisor tool is a straight to the point compatibility tools for Windows Phone users who wishes to know if their device can upgrade to Windows 10. Microsoft haven’t officially release the minimum requirements to Upgrade to Windows 10 but we already have some information about them listed next:

  • Lumia Devices must have at least Windows Phone version 8.10.14219.341 (Lumia Denim update) or higher
  • 8 GB of storage space with at least 1.5 GB or more of free space for Windows installation to work.

The current Microsoft Upgrade Advisor app can now be downloaded from the Microsoft Store but the company is setting its compatibility as a beta software so we are still expecting it to get more refined with more updates and will eventually are more device candidates for Windows 10 upgrade.
