Huawei’s new solid entries for computing are the new Matebooks, two are laptops with the Matebook X and Matebook D and one 2-in-1 convertible with the new Matebook E. These three new devices are all powered by Windows 10 and comes with impressive an impressive specs sheet.
Top of the line devices gets the first mention and the new Matebook X comes first, its form factor is a traditional laptop which takes its cues from the Apple Macbook. It comes with a 13-inch IPS panel, 2160 x 1440 resolution and a 3:2 aspect ratio. The new laptop also comes with thin 4.4mm bezels with 88% screen-to-body ratio. To top it off, the display panel is covered and protected by Corning Gorilla Glass and include Eye Comfort Technology for visual clarity.
The Matebook X is definitely the top end of these newly announced devices with a fanless design and is built with high-grade aluminum body. Under the hood, the new laptop is powered by either an Intel Core i5 or Core i7 7th generation processors with both under Intel’s U-series and includes a built-in Intel HD 620 Graphics. 4GB of system RAM comes as standard with either 256GB or 512GB SSD drives.
Weighing at about 1.05 kg the new Huawei Matebook X includes a 41.4Wh battery which promise up to 10 hours of use from a single charge. Another cool feature on the Matebook X is the integrated fingerprint reader on the power button and there’s a Dolby ATMOS sound system support for clearer and crisp audio. Users will be able to select several color option that fits their taste including Prestige Gold, Rose Gold, and Space Grey. Prices starts from Euros 1,399 and up to Euros 1,699.
The new Matebook D is more of a traditional laptop than the more radical alternative but packs a punch for technological innovations. It comes with a 15.6-inch IPS screen with 1080p resolution display and 83% of screen-to-body ratio. It is powered by either a Core i5 or Core i7 CPU with an optional Nvidia Graphics.
For its memory options, the Matebook D comes with either 4/8/16 GB of RAM and choice of storage from 128GB, 256GB, 512GB or a whopping 1TB of internal storage.
It weighs at around 1.9 kg and available in Champagne Gold, Space Grey, and Aurora Blue. Prices starts at Euros 799 up to Euros 999 depending on the choice of configuration options.
While the first two devices are dedicated laptop devices, the new Matebook E is a 2-in-1 machine and is the direct successor to the original Matebook 2-in-1. As a tablet, it comes with a large 12-inch 2K IPS display with 2,160 x 1440 resolution. Under the hood is a choice of either 4GB or 8GB of LPDDR3 RAM and a wide range of storage options from 128GB, 256GB or 512GB of SSD drive.
The new 2-in1 tablet/laptop is powered by latest 7th generation Intel Y-Series processors with either a Core M3 or a Core i5 with a built-in Intel HD 615 Graphics. It also comes with Dolby ATMOS Sound System support a standard feature for the three new computing devices.
The tablet only weighs around 640 grams with its includes a 4,430 mAh of embedded battery which theoretically provides up to 9 hours of continuous video playback. It also comes with an improved Folio keyboard which totals the weight to 1.1 Kg and support for the MatePen for note taking and other graphics task.
The new Matebook E will be available in these following colors: Titanium Grey and Champagne Gold and will be priced starting at Euros 999 and Euros 1,299.
All three new Matebook devices are expected to go on sale sometime this summer.
