Most of the luxury phone makers are slapping their phone with premium materials that put these devices into the realm of pocket empty prices for the regular users, but instead of focusing on the outside looks, Gionee has went into the practical side of things but putting a massively sized battery unto the unit so you’ll get whatever premium that you pay in a more useful way.

That’s no other than Gionee’s upcoming M2017 with a mixed bag of leather, metal and glass construction of a 5.7-inch handset. obviously in our point of view, these type of handset are ready to sell in the premium market but that’s not the highlight of the handset because as far as smartphones are concerned, the M2017 is just equipped with a huge battery with 7,000 mAh in capacity. This is nearly and certainly a tablet-grade battery pack in a compact shell with a promising 32 hours of talk-time or up to 26 hours of continuous video playback.

When talking about the insides of the device, the M2017 is a bit daunting for one unfortunate reason, the handset only housed a mid-ranger Snapdragon 653 chipset. Though this isn’t something bad to begin with, Gionee could have used a more powerful Snapdragon 821 for that matter to match the overall premium quality of the device. But since Gionee has opted for a little less with its processing power, the Chinese firm augments this shortcoming with 6GB of RAM and at least 128GB of storage.

Getting back to the premium side of things, users will get a most noticeably curved 5.7-inch AMOLED display with quad-HD resolutions and a front mounted fingerprint sensor. There’s an 8 Megapixel front camera and a dual-camera module on the back with 12 MP and 13 MP sensors with LED flash. Gionee, promises a similar camera features as the iPhone 7 Plus with a 2X optical zoom and along with an extensive image processing algorithms for perfect shots at all times.

For availability, the Gionee M2017 is set to go on sale in China this coming January 6, 2017. Despite the desires of international customers, Gionee may seem not likely to release this handset outside of its home country. Prices starts atRMB 6,999 (about $1,007) for its 128GB variant while a much more premium with 256GB of storage will sell forRMB 16,999 ($2,446).
