During the Apple iPhone X event, the Cupertino company introduced wireless charging with the new AirPower Mat for the very first time and it is designed to work with the latest iPhone devices, the Apple Watch and the new AirPod case.
The AirPower Mat uses Qi certified technologies with few more features designed to meet Apple standards. Unlike traditional wireless charging mats, Apple’s new AirPower can accommodate not just one but three devices being charged together at the same time. Apple will be working with Qi to integrate Apple’s technological breakthrough for future Qi Wireless charging standards.
The new Apple AirPower Mat will be shipping in 2018 with prices to be announced later. Customers that wants to try the new wireless charging feature on their new iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X may use third-party Apple-compliant Qi certified wireless charging pads such as the Belkin Boost Up or the Mophie Wireless base.
